A Beginner’s Guide to Among Us
Welcome to Unblocked-Games.in! The most popular social deduction games in recent years is — Among Us. Whether you’re a first-time player or just curious about what makes this game so engaging, this guide will walk you through the basics and give you everything you need to get started.
What Is Among Us?
Among Us is a social deduction game created by InnerSloth, the same team behind the Henry Stickmin Collection. Social deduction games aren’t new — you may have heard of games like Mafia, Werewolf, or Secret Hitler — where a group works toward a goal while a subset of players secretly tries to sabotage them.
Among Us follows the same premise: a group of players must complete tasks while Imposters lurk among them, working to eliminate the crew. Let’s break it down step by step.
How to Play: The Basics
In each game, up to 10 players enter a map and take on the role of either:
- Crewmates — tasked with completing various objectives to win the game.
- Imposters — secretly working to kill crewmates and sabotage the mission.
The game ends in one of three scenarios:
- The Crewmates win by completing all their tasks or ejecting all imposters.
- The Imposters win if they kill enough crewmates so that the number of imposters equals the number of crewmates.
- The Imposters win if a major sabotage (like depleting oxygen) isn’t fixed in time.
Tasks: The Crewmates’ Goal
As a crewmate, you’ll have a list of tasks to complete, shown in the top-left corner of your screen. Tasks are simple, like:
- Dumping trash
- Fixing wiring
- Uploading data
Complete your tasks to help the crew win — but stay vigilant! Imposters will pretend to do tasks while plotting their next kill.
Murder and Deception: The Imposters’ Game
Imposters blend in by faking tasks while secretly eliminating crewmates. When a crewmate is killed, their body is left behind for others to discover. Any player — including imposters — can report a body, triggering a discussion phase.
In these meetings, players debate who they think the imposter is. Imposters may lie, shift blame, or even self-report a body they just killed to seem innocent. After the discussion, players can vote to eject someone or skip the vote if they’re unsure.
If all imposters are ejected, the crewmates win.
Sabotage: The Imposters’ Secret Weapon
To tilt the odds in their favor, imposters can sabotage the ship. Some of the ways they can create chaos include:
- Locking doors to trap crewmates.
- Disabling lights to reduce visibility.
- Turning off communications to hide task locations.
- Triggering crises like depleting oxygen or causing a reactor meltdown. If these aren’t fixed in time, the imposters win automatically.
Sabotages also serve as distractions, forcing crewmates to leave their tasks while imposters plot their next move.
Deception Tools: Security and Vents
Two key features help shape the game’s cat-and-mouse dynamic:
- Security Cameras: Certain maps have security rooms where crewmates can monitor cameras for suspicious activity. Cameras show a blinking red light when in use, so imposters should stay on alert.
- Vents: Only imposters can use vents to quickly teleport between rooms. This makes for swift getaways after a kill but is a dead giveaway if another player sees you.
Emergency Meetings and Ghosts
If you catch someone acting suspicious (like venting) but don’t find a body, you can call an emergency meeting at the central meeting button. This lets you warn the crew and vote someone out without needing a body report.
And don’t worry — death isn’t the end! Once killed, crewmates become ghosts and can still help by completing their tasks invisibly. Meanwhile, imposter ghosts can continue sabotaging. Ghosts can’t communicate with the living crew, though, so they’re left to silently watch the chaos unfold.
Advanced Settings: Spice Up Your Game
To keep the game fresh, there are two settings to experiment with:
- Confirm Ejections:
- When this is off, the game won’t reveal whether a voted-out player was an imposter or not, adding an extra layer of paranoia.
- Visual Tasks:
- Some tasks have visible animations (like emptying trash). Turning this off makes it harder to prove your innocence since no one will see task progress happening.
A Game of Trust and Betrayal
Among Us is as much about mind games as it is about completing tasks. Imposters will lie, frame innocent players, and sow doubt wherever they can. Crewmates must rely on their wits, observation skills, and a little bit of luck to survive.
What makes Among Us so fun is the social element — the accusations, the betrayals, and the triumphant moments when you finally catch the imposter in the act. Whether you’re laughing with friends over wild accusations or sweating bullets trying to survive, every round is a new adventure.
Are you ready to dive into the world of Among Us? Grab your friends, sharpen your deduction skills, and prepare to either outwit the crew — or survive the imposters’ schemes.
